"The Stekpanna band is a tightly integrated trio of guitar, bass and drums, playing contemporary jazz, part funk, part fusion; some straightahead boppish music and with an original sound. Ed Jones plays ripe, muscular tenor on Vesterbrogade and Charlotte's Leaving, the latter an attractive bop line. One For The Herring is a slow, earthy blues with guitarist Olesen getting fuzzy and funky and the bass and drums offering suitable support. If you like straightahead jazz, the best track is Overnight Miracle, a warm ballad with the guitar sound more in the mainstream tradition and sensitive work in the rhythm department by Kershaw's firm bass and Svard's swishing brush strokes. Englamark has a good double bass introduction and an attractive melody played with finesse by Andy Sheppard on soprano."
